Memory Verse: Malachi 3:10-11 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty.
Story: Luke 21:1-4 And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, 2 and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. 3 So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; 4 for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.”
Look Back:
- How are you obeying the Lord?
- How can we pray for each other?
- How can we serve each other?
Look Up:
- To tithe means to give a tenth of all we have to God. Does that sound like a lot?
- God promises that if we give away 10% of what we make he will give us even more than if we kept it in Malachi 3:10-11. Can you trust him to do this for you?
- What else does God promise to do if we will give 10% to others in Malachi 3:10-11?
- What did the widow do in Luke 21:1-4?
- Why was Jesus so impressed with her?
- What do we learn from the widow about the size of our gift versus the size of our sacrifice?
Look Ahead:
- Will you trust God and give away 10% of what you make to others?
- Will you give to others sacrificially?
- Will you test God by giving away 10% of what you make and see how he blesses you?
- How can we make more disciples?
